Welcome to the FAQ for alt.basilisk.help. If you are looking for the main news group for discussing basilisks/BLITs, that would be comp.basilisk. See that group's FAQ for the technical information on BLITs that we assume you already know if you have found this group. This is the alt* hierarchy group for discussing and tracking basilisks/BLITs in the real-world, not just as technical oddities. 

1. Why does this group exist?
We were founded by comp.basilisk users who were banned from comp.basilisk for "bringing up too many personal problems" and "encouraging illegal activity," which is to say that we were interested in how basilisks/BLITs had affected us personally and were swapping coping mechanisms. In other words, we believe that it is important to acknowledge that the discovery of basilisks permanently and inevitably changed the world for the worse. 

2. What sort of discussion can I expect to find on alt.basilisk.help? 
The easiest answer to that question is "you should just read the news group," but given people keep asking us anyway, we mostly exist to warn each other about recent basilisk sighting, spread cheap/cheaper protection mechanisms than bespoke scrambler glasses that have to be ordered months in advance, and monitoring the dangerous cult Children of BLIT.

3. Aren't Children of BLIT a harmless new age movement?
No. If you think that, you are either a fool or a member of CoB, which is to say a fool. If you are a member of CoB (or "blitter"), we are not interested in acting as your cult's external reinforcement mechanism and will not be engaging with anything you post to the newsgroup.

4. Can I post binary files on alt.basilisk.help?
No.

5. Don't alt.basilisk.help users purposefully expose blitters to the Parrot for the express purpose of killing them? 
No law enforcement agent has ever found evidence of image files uploaded to the newsgroup by any member of the newsgroup. We do however believe that the Children of BLIT are an outgrowth of the same homophobic, white supremacist, transphobic religious movements that long to strangle the governments of the world in their grip, and so do not believe that they have any right to complain if the objects they worship are then used against them.
